Loyalty

Sometimes I am truly amazed at the depths of people we call family and friends. I honestly would like to know what goes through the minds of those who can so easily and seemingly fast disregard years of comradely.

To me friendship is more valuable than family. To people I refer to as friends I hold to a higher standard and I don't call everyone a friend. As for family I'm not too sure what that is supposed to mean. My own is nothing like the Partridge Family or the Brady's but for years it took me time to realize that they are they way they are. I'm not sure if I should be happy or content w/ that.

But I can truly say that I am no longer surprised by people's actions but amazed by their inaction. How can you call yourself a relative if you are only around in good times. How can you call yourself a friend if you are never there to listen or to console. Have we become so wrapped up in our own lives that we no longer care about our fellow man? Over the past few months I have seen and heard things that honestly turn my stomach. Backstabbing, deceitfulness, lying, and other things that people have all said were done to them by those closest.

Karma is an ugly force and so is a person's memory. People forgive but they don't forget.

  1. some of the worst things that have happened to me in my life were done by people in my family. I'm so happy that the movie Precious was made because i experienced similar abuse at the hands of my own so called mother and i have suppressed it for many years. i dont agree when people say "oh thats your family, your blood." huh? what? what that mean? so it's ok for my "family" to use me and abuse me all in the name of blood types? dna? child please. you always have a shoulder here.

  2. Amen, but not just family some friends are shady as hell too. Someone told me a story about a "friend" and I just sat there with my mouth open. NEGATIVE. I'm trimming down my "friend" roster as we speak. You can't make moves w/ 40 people watching anyway.
